Why The Bayer Financial Group

Do What You Say.
When You Say
You’ll Do It.

Matt Bayer founded The Bayer Financial Group to create his own front door—one that would let the best parts of the financial-services business in and keep the parts he did not trust out. That decision shaped a firm built around independence, education, responsiveness, and long-term relationships.

The BFG Team brings over 100 years of combined industry experience to clients across the country. Technology makes distance easy; disciplined follow-through makes the relationship work. BFG’s standard is straightforward: do what we say we are going to do, within the timeframe we promise.

Fiduciary should be the starting point—not the finish line.

Fee-Based & Commission-Based

Matt explains conceptually the difference between varying cost structures with a focus on what true total costs may look like using one or a combination of styles. Reference to time frames and costs may vary from examples given, especially as investment choices change.

What Does Fiduciary Really Mean?

Best-interest obligations are a baseline. Process, choices, costs, communication, and ongoing service show how the relationship works.

Every Dollar Should Have a Job

Purpose-driven investing means every dollar in your plan has a defined role — and you understand what it is.

Fee-Based & Commission-Based: Why the Best Advisors Use Both

More Choice. A Better Fit for Each Dollar.

Fee-based and commission-based accounts are different ways of structuring an investment relationship. BFG offers both because different dollars have different jobs. Money needed in the near term should not be handled the same way as money intended for retirement income, long-term growth, or a legacy.

Matt evaluates purpose, timeframe, risk, liquidity, ongoing management needs, and total cost before recommending a structure. BFG does not force every client into one compensation model or limit the plan to a narrow product shelf.

The goal is to use the combination of tools that best supports the client’s objectives—and to explain how BFG is paid before a decision is made.

Fee-Based Advisory

  • Ongoing advisory fee for management and service
  • Investments may also carry internal expenses
  • May fit assets requiring continuing management and review
  • Cost continues while assets remain in the advisory relationship

Commission-Based Options

  • Compensation relates to a product or transaction
  • Terms and costs vary by investment
  • May fit a specific purpose that does not require the same ongoing advisory structure
  • Client receives an explanation of compensation and product costs before deciding

Portfolio With Purpose

Low Cost Is a Factor.
It Is Not a Financial Plan.

ETFs and low-cost funds can play a valuable role in a portfolio. But a lower expense ratio does not automatically make an investment better, safer, or more appropriate for a client’s goals. A collection of inexpensive investments is still not the same as a purposeful strategy.

01

Look Beyond the Label

We evaluate what an investment owns, how it behaves, and what risks it carries.

02

Understand Total Cost

Price matters in context, including internal expenses, services, and ongoing management.

03

Match the Investment to Its Job

Timeframe, liquidity, income, growth, and legacy needs shape the recommendation.

04

Know Why It Belongs

An investment earns its place by supporting a defined objective—not simply by carrying the lowest advertised price.

Our Planning Process

A Plan Built
Around Your Life,
Not a Template.

A strong financial plan begins with a brief, confidential intake form and a conversation about where you are today, where you want to go, what risks could get in the way, and which tools may be appropriate for the job.

01

Discovery

We begin by listening. Your goals, concerns, income needs, family priorities — before any recommendations.

02

Analysis

We evaluate your investments, risk exposure, costs, retirement timeline, and income sources.

03

Strategy

Recommendations designed to move you toward defined objectives while matching investments to purpose and timeframe.

04

Implementation

We put the plan into action — explaining each step so you know what’s happening and why.

05

Partnership

We review, communicate, and adjust as markets, laws, and life change.

“The families who arrive at retirement with clarity and confidence started planning well before the date arrived.”
